Simone Biles Reveals Health Scare After Nearly Dying

Simone Biles said she experienced one of the scariest moments of her life earlier this week after revealing she had been confined to bed rest while recovering from a health scare. In a social media post, the Olympic gymnastics star said “almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” adding that it was “one of, if not the scariest experience of my life.” She said the situation was especially difficult because her husband, Jonathan Owens, was in Indianapolis for pre-season practices with the Colts at the time.

Biles told followers that she had spent the week “in bed resting” and said she would explain more at a later time. She also thanked members of her close circle for checking in, visiting, and sending flowers, writing that their support meant a lot to her. Her post included photos of bouquets and a final image of two dogs lying on a bed alongside a screenshot showing her heart rate.

The message comes after a remarkable period in Biles’s career. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, she won gold medals in the team event, individual all-around, and vault, while also taking silver in floor exercise. Those results added to a career total of 41 World Championship and Olympic medals, strengthening her status as one of the greatest female athletes in history.

Biles has long been recognized as a trailblazer in gymnastics. Several of her original technical elements have been performed by other gymnasts and are now known by her name, “the Biles.” She made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016 at age 19 and has since competed at two more Olympic Games.

Despite her dominance, Biles has recently left open the question of whether she will compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Her latest post has drawn attention not only because of her health scare, but also because it comes during a period when fans have been closely watching what may come next in her career.

The gymnast’s candid remarks reflect both the physical toll elite sport can take and the support system she relies on away from competition. While she did not provide full details about what happened, her message suggested the situation was serious enough to require rest and recovery. For now, Biles appears to be focusing on healing, surrounded by family, friends, and the encouragement of her wider fan base.
