Anna Faris Reveals Melania Trump Joke Was Cut from Scary Movie 6
Anna Faris said her return as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 6 was shaped by a character update meant to reflect modern politics and culture. Speaking about the new film, Faris said she imagined Cindy as a “classic MAGA” type and described wanting the role to feel like a recognizable, over-the-top figure from the pandemic era. She said she even suggested a joke referencing Melania Trump’s “Be Best” campaign, though the line was cut from the movie.
Faris recalled one scene in which Cindy is heavily intoxicated and looks in a rearview mirror before saying, “Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.” She said she liked the joke even though it did not make the final cut. The actress tied the idea to Melania Trump’s 2018 anti-cyberbullying initiative, which drew criticism at the time amid scrutiny of Donald Trump’s online behavior.
Faris also said she felt free to push the boundaries of comedy because the Scary Movie franchise has always leaned into offensive, exaggerated satire. She noted that being the lead in what she described as one of the most offensive movie series ever made gave her creative freedom to participate in provocative material. According to Faris, that energy helped define Cindy’s updated portrayal in the new installment.
The actress is reuniting in Scary Movie 6 with original franchise stars Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Regina Hall after first becoming widely known for her performance as Cindy Campbell in the 2000 Scary Movie. Faris appeared in Scary Movie 2 in 2001, Scary Movie 3 in 2003 and Scary Movie 4 in 2006, but she did not return for Scary Movie 5 in 2013, which starred Ashley Tisdale.
Her comments highlight how the new film is reviving the series’ brand of pop-culture parody while updating its targets for a different era. Faris’ take on Cindy Campbell suggests the character has been reworked to fit the current political climate and social media age, while still keeping the franchise’s signature crude humor and satirical edge.
