Arsenal Beat Eight Rivals to Teen Star Signing as Andrea Berta Secures First Summer Transfer Report

Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, with the 16-year-old attracting interest from eight other clubs, including Manchester United and Manchester City. The Gunners, who are said to be building on their recent Premier League title win and Champions League final appearance, are looking to strengthen their squad with one of England’s most highly rated young talents.
Monga is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in English football after breaking into senior football at a very young age. He became the second youngest player to appear in Premier League history when he featured for Leicester City, and he is now the third youngest overall, behind Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri. The winger also spent part of the season in League One following Leicester’s relegation, but his reputation continued to grow.
According to reports, Monga made three goal involvements in just over 1,000 minutes for Leicester during the season, underlining his impact despite limited playing time. His pace, direct running, versatility and dribbling ability have made him a target for several elite clubs in England and across Europe. Arsenal are believed to be leading the race at present, although the level of competition remains high.
The teenager is expected to command a fee of more than £10 million, and because of his age, a tribunal may decide the final compensation if he leaves Leicester. Such a move would likely set a record for a player moving from the English third tier, reflecting both Monga’s promise and the scale of interest in him. Leicester are braced for a major summer of change after a difficult season, and several players could depart as the club adjusts to its new reality.
Monga’s professional contract with Leicester is due to be activated on July 10, when he turns 17, but his long-term future now appears uncertain. His progress has already drawn praise at the highest level. Former Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy highlighted the youngster’s “glimpses of quality” after his Premier League debut against Newcastle in April 2025, when Monga came on for 17 minutes in a 3-0 defeat.
For Arsenal, a successful deal would not only add depth to the wide positions but also continue their strategy of investing in elite young talent. It would also create a notable connection between the club’s present and future, with Monga potentially joining Dowman and Nwaneri as part of a new generation of Arsenal-linked teenage stars. The deal, if completed, would be one of the most closely watched youth transfers of the summer.
