Women’s World Cup 2027: Spain, France and Denmark Secure Qualification

France finished first in Group 2 after a 1-0 victory over Ireland in Grenoble, ending the stage with 13 points and securing top spot ahead of the Netherlands. The Dutch also won, beating Poland 3-1 at home, but their result was not enough to catch France, as they finished two points behind on 11.

In Group 1, Denmark booked qualification in convincing fashion by thrashing Serbia 4-1 away from home. The Danish side wrapped up the group stage with 14 points, five clear of Italy. Italy was held to a 2-2 draw by Sweden, a result that left them well behind Denmark in the final standings.

The results confirmed France and Denmark as the standout teams in their respective groups. France’s narrow win over Ireland was enough to preserve their lead, while the Netherlands kept pressure on until the end with a strong home performance against Poland. In the other group, Denmark’s dominant display underlined their superiority, as they scored four times to seal first place comfortably.

Italy’s draw with Sweden proved costly, preventing them from mounting any late challenge for the group lead. Despite earning a point, it was not enough to close the gap to Denmark, who had already created a decisive cushion. Sweden, meanwhile, managed to take a share of the points in a high-scoring match that ended 2-2.

Across both groups, the final round brought clarity to the standings, with France and Denmark finishing on top and advancing with confidence after decisive performances. The Netherlands and Italy remained in contention but were unable to alter the final order, as the leaders held their advantage to the end.
