Vasana Montgomery: Inside the Love Island USA Season 8 Cast Member’s Background and Rise to Fame

Vasana Montgomery has been removed from the upcoming eighth season of Love Island USA before the show even premiered, drawing immediate attention online and raising questions about the contestant’s background and social media presence. According to reports, Montgomery was announced as part of the cast only days before the season was set to begin, but her stint on the reality dating series ended almost as quickly as it started.
Montgomery is from Beaverton, Oregon, and at the time of publication, her Instagram account appeared to be deactivated, although it is believed she may have had one previously. With little public information available about her, interest in the contestant quickly shifted from her short-lived casting to the reason behind her exit.
TMZ and Deadline reported that Montgomery was cut from the Love Island USA season 8 lineup after videos surfaced in which she allegedly used the N-word. A Peacock spokesperson told Deadline that the clips were privately owned and had not been public before her casting announcement. The removal came before viewers had officially met her on screen, making it one of the latest pre-premiere controversies to hit the series.
The decision follows similar incidents from the show’s recent history. During season 7, which premiered in June 2025, contestant Yulissa Escobar exited the villa after a clip resurfaced showing her using a racial slur repeatedly. Escobar later apologized publicly on Instagram, saying she had used a word she had no right to say and acknowledging the harm tied to the language.
Weeks later, another season 7 cast member, Cierra Ortega, also left the show after being found to have used an anti-Asian slur in the past. Ortega issued a video apology in which she addressed the Asian community directly and said she had not understood the history and pain connected to the term. She emphasized that ignorance was not an excuse and apologized for the offense caused.
Montgomery’s removal adds to a growing pattern of pre-screen and mid-season cast controversies for Love Island USA, a series that often faces intense scrutiny due to the social media history of its contestants. As the show prepares for season 8, the abrupt exit has generated further discussion about vetting procedures, accountability, and the rapid spread of old content once public attention turns to a reality star’s past.
With the season still in its early days, Montgomery’s departure has already become one of the most talked-about developments surrounding Love Island USA season 8. The incident also reflects the broader pressure on reality television productions to respond quickly when offensive behavior from cast members comes to light, especially before an episode has even aired.
