Trace Cyrus Slams Sister Brandi Over Alleged “Mold-Infested” Home

Trace Cyrus publicly accused his sister Brandi Cyrus of renting him a home he described as “mold infested,” saying the living conditions became a major source of stress and disrupted his plans for the summer. In a series of Instagram Story videos posted on Friday, May 29, the 37-year-old musician claimed the house had multiple problems after he moved in, including a lack of clean water for some time and conditions so difficult that he said he was sleeping on an air mattress downstairs. He alleged that the housing situation forced him to delay releasing his album and other music projects because he now has to move again.

Trace said he had tried to handle the matter privately and expressed anger that Brandi, 39, was refusing to refund his money. He also made harsh remarks about being mistreated by members of his family, framing the dispute as part of a broader pattern of frustration. Brandi Cyrus has not publicly responded, and a representative for her did not immediately comment.

Trace and Brandi are both connected to the Cyrus family through adoption. They were adopted by country star Billy Ray Cyrus, while their biological mother is Billy Ray’s ex-wife, Tish Cyrus. Billy Ray Cyrus is also the father of Miley Cyrus, Braison Cyrus and Noah Cyrus with Tish, and he has another son, Christopher Cyrus, with ex Kristin Luckey.

The public dispute comes after a series of other family tensions Trace has aired online. In January, he posted an emotional message to Billy Ray Cyrus, saying he once admired him deeply but no longer recognized the man he had become. In that post, Trace referenced concerns about his father’s behavior and said family members, including Noah Cyrus, had been worried for years. He suggested Billy Ray had pushed them away and had not been there for Noah in the way he should have been. Billy Ray’s representatives were contacted at the time for comment.

In his Friday posts, Trace later tried to cool down, saying one video had been made while he was extremely angry. He told Brandi not to use other people to speak for her and urged her to call him directly if she wanted to resolve the matter. He warned that he was no longer willing to let family or friends “f***” him over and said the issue could become more public if Brandi did not do “the right thing.”

Afterward, Trace said he had relaxed by spending time in the sauna and meditating, adding that he felt his late mother was watching the situation and disapproving of Brandi’s actions. The latest family dispute adds to the Cyrus family’s long history of public disagreements and online fallout.
