Tilda Swinton Gives a White Witch Twist to Classic Chanel

Tilda Swinton made a striking appearance at Chanel’s second Métiers d’Art 2026 show in Seoul, South Korea, wearing an intricate look by Matthieu Blazy that echoed the “ice queen” image long associated with her role as the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia. Although Swinton is set to pass that iconic part to Emma Mackey in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia reimagining, her latest fashion moment proved she still commands the same frosty elegance.
Arriving at the event at Centre Pompidou Hanwha, Swinton wore a refined reinterpretation of Chanel’s classic skirt suit from Blazy’s spring 2026 haute couture collection. The ensemble featured a knee-length skirt, a collared shirt, and a collarless cardigan in a delicate palette of pale blue-gray and soft gold. The look was finished with chain-lined trim accented by small pearls, adding a subtle shine that elevated the tailoring.
The outfit’s most distinctive feature was its layered texture. Tiny silk pieces cut into abstract oval shapes were embroidered across the suit, creating a feathery effect that gave the garment movement and depth. The design evoked the flutter of bird wings and reflected the themes of lightness and metamorphosis that ran through Chanel’s couture presentation, which also included feather and mushroom motifs.
Swinton paired the suit with cap-toed pumps, another modern Chanel take on a house classic. Her pale blue slingback heels had low heels and slim black detailing across the toes, complementing the soft tones of the outfit while preserving its polished, elegant feel.
The appearance highlighted how traditional Chanel staples can be reimagined through craftsmanship and artistry without losing their sophistication. That approach has become a defining element of Blazy’s early work at the house, where classic silhouettes are updated through intricate material treatment and careful design.
Swinton’s Seoul outing is also the latest in a series of appearances in Chanel by Blazy. She has previously worn his designs at the Cannes Film Festival and at Chanel’s cruise 2027 and spring 2026 couture runway shows. She was also among the first major stars to wear Blazy’s Chanel last winter at the Marrakech Film Festival.
With recent Chanel appearances by Kristen Stewart, Penelope Cruz, and Sandra Hüller at Cannes, Swinton’s latest look underscores the brand’s strong red-carpet momentum in 2026. Chanel continues to position itself as one of the most visible fashion houses in high-profile celebrity dressing, and Swinton remains one of its most compelling ambassadors.
