The View Co-Host Makes Major Blunder About Donald Trump Jr.

Alyssa Farah Griffin had an awkward on-air slip during the May 26 live episode of The View while discussing President Donald Trump’s decision to skip his son Donald Trump Jr.’s May 23 wedding to Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas and remain at the White House instead. The moment unfolded as the co-hosts reacted to Trump’s absence from the family event, with Joy Behar joking that if the ceremony had been held at McDonald’s, he might have attended.
Griffin, a former Trump White House communications official, said she had spoken about the issue on CNN the previous Friday and argued that a parent should go. In the middle of making her point, however, she accidentally referred to Trump Jr.’s wedding as a “funeral.” Realizing the mistake immediately, she stopped herself, apologized on air, and blamed her slip on exhaustion while raising a 3-month-old baby. She then corrected her statement, saying that a parent should never miss a wedding if they are able to attend, and added that skipping the event would likely draw more criticism than showing up.
Griffin welcomed her first child, Justin Patrick Jr., with her husband, Justin Griffin, in February.
Trump had previously addressed whether he would attend the ceremony. On May 21, he told a reporter that his son wanted him there, but said the timing was not right because of “Iran and other things.” He also suggested that any decision would be criticized either way. The following day, he confirmed he would not attend. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he wanted to be with his son, Don Jr., and Bettina Anderson, but that government responsibilities and his love for the United States prevented him from doing so.
The wedding, held in the Bahamas on May 23, drew attention not only because of Trump’s absence but also because of the public comments surrounding the family event. Griffin’s on-air mistake quickly became one of the more notable moments from the discussion, with the co-host correcting herself almost immediately and continuing the segment without further incident.
