According to reports, Deon was allegedly killed outside a convenience store after attending a prom party on Friday, May 22. During the school’s graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, Deon’s mother, Precious Sherman, accepted his diploma on his behalf. The moment was a solemn tribute to the student’s life and the future he had been preparing to step into. Saginaw United Principal Eric Gordon paused the ceremony so Deon could be honored alongside his classmates. As the Class of 2026 crossed the stage, Sherman walked in a gray cap and gown to receive the diploma in her son’s memory.
