Taylor Swift Announces New Song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Toy Story 5, Out June 5

Taylor Swift has announced an original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” for Disney and Pixar’s upcoming film “Toy Story 5,” which is set to debut exclusively in cinemas on June 19, 2026, with previews beginning June 18. The track was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff and will be released on Friday, June 5, 2026, on streaming and purchase platforms before appearing on the film’s soundtrack when it is released.
The announcement marks a notable creative link between Swift and the “Toy Story” franchise, with the new song inspired by Jessie’s character arc in the film. Disney says the music reflects Taylor Swift’s return to her country roots while also drawing on the styles that have shaped her career as a songwriter and performer. The song is described as closely tied to the emotional themes of the movie and to Jessie’s journey, which began in “Toy Story 2.”
“Toy Story 5” director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton said Swift’s understanding of the character was immediate and meaningful, adding that the song felt naturally connected to the world of “Toy Story” from the first listen. The film brings back familiar voices including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. The cast also includes Greta Lee as Lilypad, a new tablet device whose arrival challenges the toys’ place in Bonnie’s life.
According to the film’s synopsis, the story centers on the toys facing a new kind of competition in the age of technology. Lilypad introduces disruptive ideas about what is best for Bonnie, setting up a conflict between traditional playtime and the influence of modern devices. The film is directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, and produced by Lindsey Collins. Randy Newman returns to compose the score.
Swift’s announcement followed a series of promotional billboards featuring “TS” references in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, and London. The teaser campaign was also supported by a countdown on Swift’s official website and related billboards in New York and Los Angeles.
Pre-sales have begun for three exclusive CD editions on Swift’s official store. Each version includes the new song in a different form: the film version, an acoustic version, and a piano version, each with unique vocals and production. The release adds another major crossover moment between one of the world’s biggest pop artists and one of Disney and Pixar’s most iconic animated franchises, generating strong anticipation ahead of the film’s theatrical debut.
