Shaboozey Announces New Project “The Outlaw Cherie Lee”
Shaboozey has announced a new album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, following the breakout success of his 2024 record Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going. That album established him as a major star, driven in part by the long-running No. 1 hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” The new project is scheduled for release on July 31 via American Dogwood, and Shaboozey has already shared a trailer to preview the album’s concept and direction.
Although a full tracklist has not yet been revealed, the upcoming album is expected to include a new round of high-profile collaborations, according to a press release. The rollout will begin soon with a new song titled “Born To Die,” which is set to arrive on Friday, April 24. The release suggests that Shaboozey is continuing to expand his sound while pushing further into the intersection of country, storytelling, and genre-bending production.
In a statement about the album, Shaboozey said that Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going helped listeners get to know him personally, but The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales is meant to show a different side of his artistry. He described the new project as the result of several years of work and many different versions, calling it a western revenge story told across the album’s songs. The record centers on a character named Cherie Lee and explores themes of revenge, redemption, and romance through a cinematic narrative.
The press release provides more detail about the storyline, saying Cherie Lee sees her sheriff father murdered by a gang called the Bootcut Boys. After that, she leaves behind the badge and begins hunting down the outlaws one by one. During her search for revenge, she falls in love with one of the men she is chasing. He believes love can save him, while she hopes the relationship will ease her darkness, but the story ends in tragedy. In the final act, Cherie chooses vengeance over love and kills the man who loves her most, fully embracing the violent path she set out to destroy.
Shaboozey said the album pushed his songwriting and storytelling to new heights and described it as a promise to himself that he felt he had to keep. He added that he poured everything into the project and hopes listeners will become immersed in its world and journey. The album follows a period of major momentum for the artist, who continues to build on the success of his recent rise with a more ambitious and narrative-driven body of work.
With the album set for late July and new music arriving this week, Shaboozey is positioning The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales as a major next chapter in his career.
