Seth Rogen Gives Surprising Update on Whether He’ll Reconnect With Former Friend James Franco

Seth Rogen has clarified that he has no plans to reconnect professionally with James Franco, ending any speculation about a Hollywood reunion between the former longtime collaborators. In a new interview with the New York Times published on Saturday, Rogen said the status of their relationship remains unchanged and stressed that he has not worked with Franco in years. He declined to discuss the more personal details behind their fractured friendship, saying the situation involves private matters that he is not comfortable addressing publicly.

Rogen’s comments suggest that there is little chance of a future collaboration, despite the pair’s history as one of comedy’s most recognizable creative partnerships. Over the years, Rogen and Franco worked together on projects including Freaks and Geeks, Pineapple Express, and The Disaster Artist, building a reputation as close friends both on-screen and behind the scenes. But their relationship appears to have cooled significantly in recent years, with Rogen now making it clear that no reunion is planned.

The split has often been linked to the controversy surrounding Franco’s career after allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior surfaced publicly in 2018. A sexual misconduct lawsuit later filed by former acting students was settled in 2021, with court records showing Franco agreed to pay more than $2 million to resolve the case. Rogen previously said in 2021 that the changes in their relationship were not accidental and made clear that he opposes abuse and harassment.

In the latest interview, Rogen reaffirmed that position while avoiding further comment on what specifically caused the friendship to end. He said the public version of the story remains the same and pointed to the fact that he has not collaborated with Franco in a long time as evidence that nothing has changed.

Franco also addressed the end of the friendship publicly last year, adding to renewed interest in where the two stand today. But Rogen’s recent remarks leave little room for optimism among fans hoping for a reconciliation or another joint project.

For audiences who remember their influential comedy run, the message is straightforward: the Seth Rogen and James Franco partnership that once defined a generation of film and television comedy is not coming back, at least for now. Rogen appears content to leave that chapter behind and move on without revisiting the past.
