Roland Garros: Follow Day 6 Live from 11:00 AM

Roland-Garros 2026 delivered a packed day of third-round action, with long matches, surprise breakthroughs, and several players battling extreme heat on the Paris clay. Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, and young Brazilian Joao Fonseca were among the main attractions, while French hopes rested on Quentin Halys against world No. 2 Alexander Zverev in the night session.
On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek continued her march through the draw with a straight-sets win over compatriot Magda Linette, underlining the control and efficiency that have made her one of the tournament favorites. She advanced in 1 hour and 25 minutes and will face Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round. Kostyuk also impressed, beating Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic in two sets to book her own place in the round of 16. Another notable result came from Elina Svitolina, who defeated Tamara Korpatsch and moved into the second week of Roland-Garros for the fourth straight year.
The day also produced a major surprise from China’s Xiyu Wang, who reached the fourth round for the first time at a Grand Slam by defeating Yuliia Starodubtseva. On the same side of the draw, Sorana Cirstea overwhelmed Solana Sierra with a double bagel, 6-0, 6-0, in just 56 minutes, while Jil Teichmann stunned Karolina Muchova in straight sets to claim her first-ever Grand Slam round-of-16 berth.
In the men’s draw, Andrey Rublev advanced in three tight sets over Nuno Borges, repeatedly relying on tie-break composure to secure the victory. Pablo Carreno Busta also reached the fourth round after a hard-fought four-set win over Thiago Agustin Tirante, showing the resilience that has helped him revive his career after injury setbacks.
The most dramatic storyline centered on Novak Djokovic and 19-year-old Joao Fonseca. Djokovic started strongly, taking the first two sets, but the Brazilian responded brilliantly. Fonseca broke back, found his rhythm, and pushed the Serbian champion into a long, physical battle. As the match stretched past four hours, Djokovic appeared increasingly taxed, while Fonseca lifted the crowd with his fearless shot-making. In the deciding set, the teenager continued to fight, even drawing level at 3-3 after trailing earlier, turning the match into one of the most gripping contests of the day.
Elsewhere, Jesper de Jong nearly produced a major upset against Karen Khachanov before the Russian fought back and forced a deciding set. Jakub Mensik also impressed, eliminating Alex de Minaur in four sets to set up a meeting with Rublev. Tommy Paul and Casper Ruud were locked in a tense contest as well, with the American taking the opening set and Ruud trying to respond in a match that went to a tie-break.
The atmosphere at Roland-Garros remained intense throughout the afternoon and evening, with several matches stretching deep into the night. The third round confirmed a tournament full of open pathways, rising young talent, and seasoned champions under pressure, setting up an unpredictable second week in Paris.
