Rayman Legends Retold Launches October 1 on PS5, PlayStation.Blog Announces

Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PS5 on October 1 as a new 3D reimagining of the classic platformer, unveiled during today’s State of Play. The game follows Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus and Murphy as they travel through magical worlds to stop a shadowy villain spreading corruption across the Glade of Dreams and rescue the Teensies. The adventure includes familiar platforming actions such as leaping, gliding and punching, along with a brand-new realm and cinematic dragon rides.
The project aims to modernize the Rayman experience while preserving the elements that made the franchise popular. According to the team, the game is designed to re-tell the story for a new generation while expanding the series’ lore and world-building. The visual style has been rebuilt with striking 3D graphics that bend the playground, tilt the camera and enhance cutscenes to create a more immersive experience.
Rayman Legends Retold also features an expanded soundtrack from Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope, fully voiced cinematics and, for the first time in the franchise, fully voiced characters. The updated gameplay includes a mix of returning levels, a mysterious new realm and four new musical stages that require players to move in rhythm with the soundtrack. A new Cave of Trials mode adds free challenges for players looking to test their skills further.
The game is being built for PS5 using the Snowdrop engine, with the goal of making the world of Rayman more expressive and dynamic. Developers say the new 3D approach bridges the visual style and storytelling of Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 with the clearer side-scrolling gameplay of Rayman Legends. The result is meant to feel both familiar and fresh while taking advantage of current hardware.
Multiplayer returns with couch co-op for up to four players, allowing friends to play together through the full adventure. Players can help rescue one another, race for Lums or compete for Teensies in a more chaotic shared experience. The improved Kung Foot mode also comes back with better controls, power-ups and customizable rules for competitive play.
Pre-orders are now available through the PlayStation Store. The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Deluxe Edition adds the Retro Pack with four costumes for Rayman, Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus, plus an in-game Art Gallery. Deluxe buyers also receive Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which features 4K resolution, 60 FPS, haptic feedback support and quality-of-life improvements. Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition will also be sold separately starting October 1. Players who pre-order any edition will receive the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, which includes two costumes inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
