Nicolas Hamilton Left “Lost for Words” After Jack Sears Trophy Victory

Nicolas Hamilton delivered an emotional breakthrough at Snetterton by securing his first piece of silverware in the British Touring Car Championship, winning the Jack Sears Trophy after one of the strongest weekends of his career with EXCELR8 Motorsport.
The Hyundai driver spent much of the event battling around the fringes of the points-paying positions, but consistent performances and strong scoring in the Jack Sears Trophy category were enough to seal overall honours. His efforts sparked moving celebrations on the podium as Hamilton finally converted years of persistence into a major result.
Hamilton said he “could not believe” what had happened over the weekend, adding that he had not expected to leave Snetterton as the Jack Sears Trophy winner. He explained that his main focus had been on improving himself as a driver, and described standing on the podium as an incredible experience.
The result carried special meaning for the 34-year-old, who said he felt he had earned the victory through hard work rather than having it handed to him. He praised both the team and the car, while also crediting his own progress, noting that he was quicker than he had ever been at the circuit and proud of the way he drove across the weekend.
Hamilton admitted that his starts still need work, but said he was able to make progress in every race because he had the pace to recover and move forward. That ability to fight through the field, he said, made the achievement even more satisfying.
In a deeply personal reflection, Hamilton said the weekend represented the fulfilment of a childhood dream and joked that he could “hang his boots, gloves and helmet up” satisfied that he had achieved what a young boy once believed was impossible. He was born with spina bifida and has long been an inspiration in motorsport for overcoming disability barriers.
The emotional scene was amplified by the support he received from the BTCC paddock and the wider championship community, with Hamilton describing the atmosphere on the podium as surreal. He said the encouragement from fans, teams and fellow competitors made the moment even more memorable.
Hamilton dedicated the achievement to everyone who has supported him throughout his journey, as well as to those who doubted him, saying their disbelief only strengthened his determination. He also said he hoped the victory would inspire others in the disabled community by showing what is possible through persistence, commitment and belief.
