Netflix’s The Roman Casts Shalom Brune-Franklin and Jimmy O. Yang

Shalom Brune-Franklin and Jimmy O. Yang have joined Netflix’s upcoming Las Vegas drama series The Roman, from Billions and Super Pumped creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Oscar Isaac stars in and executive produces the hour-long series, which is set in the high-pressure world of modern-day casino operations in Las Vegas.

Brune-Franklin will portray Jessica Christine “JC” Griffin, an ambitious rising star at the casino. JC is described as a sharp and alert host and fixer who manages the needs of high rollers while quietly pursuing her own future ambitions. Yang will play Rich Tzu, a polished, Eton-educated executive who becomes a rival to Isaac’s lead character, Bobby Redman.

Isaac plays Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the president of the city’s hottest hotel casino, who must make risky moves to protect his position and expand his influence in the competitive Vegas market. The series presents a contemporary but still dangerous version of the legendary gambling city, where power, status and survival are constantly in play.

The cast also includes previously announced stars Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin and David Costabile. Koppelman and Levien serve as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Isaac, Martin Scorsese, Sikelia Productions, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn, Expanded Media, Paul Schiff and Beth Schacter. JC Chandor is executive producing and directing the first two episodes, with Kerry Orent as co-executive producer.

Brune-Franklin is currently seen in HBO’s Dune: Prophecy, which is heading into a second season, and has also appeared in The Girlfriend, The Assassin and Baby Reindeer. Yang recently released his comedy special Finally Home, recorded during a sold-out arena run in Hong Kong. He also starred in Hulu’s Interior Chinatown and appears in the Sundance film Rock Springs as well as Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman.

The Roman adds another high-profile project to Netflix’s scripted slate, blending crime, power struggles and casino drama with a star-driven ensemble and a creative team known for sharp, character-focused storytelling.
