Two EuroMillions players win €49 million in one week at the same tobacco shop in Cassis

In Cassis, a seaside town in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of southern France, one lottery outlet has become the center of remarkable luck after producing two major Euromillions winners in less than a week. La Civette du port, a tobacco shop and lottery point in the town center, saw winning tickets from the French lottery operator FDJ United on April 21 and April 28.
The first win was especially extraordinary. On April 21, a couple who played at the shop won the Euromillions jackpot, taking home 48 million euros out of the 144 million euros available in that draw. According to FDJ, this was the third-largest Euromillions prize ever won in the Bouches-du-Rhône, behind a 57.4 million euro win in Port-de-Bouc in 2006 and a 100 million euro win in Venelles in 2009. The odds of winning the Euromillions jackpot are 1 in 139,838,160, underscoring just how rare this kind of result is.
Then, just a few days later on April 28, the same outlet produced another winner: a couple from Cassis won 1 million euros through the My Million game, which is associated with Euromillions in France. The back-to-back wins made the shop a local point of attention and highlighted an unusual statistical streak that would be difficult to repeat.
FDJ United emphasized that such outcomes are exceptionally rare and should not be seen as an investment strategy. The company warns that playing longer does not guarantee recovering losses, and in fact increases the risk of losing more money. Lottery play, FDJ notes, should be treated as entertainment rather than a financial plan.
For residents and regular customers of the port area, the double jackpot effect turned La Civette du port into a symbol of extraordinary fortune over the course of one week. While winning the Euromillions is already a long shot, having two major wins at the same location in such a short period is even more exceptional. The case illustrates both the scale of lottery prizes in France and the extreme improbability behind them.
The story also places Cassis among the notable lottery-winning towns in the region, though it remains far behind the biggest jackpots in the department’s history. Still, for the winning couples and for the local shop, these two draws in late April created an unforgettable moment of luck.
