Latto Opens Up About Finding Out She Was Pregnant, Retirement Tweet and More in New Video

Latto opened up about pregnancy, motherhood, privacy, and her so-called retirement tweet in her first interview since giving birth, released alongside the launch of her fourth studio album, “Big Mama,” on Friday, May 29. In a 40-minute conversation with Nadeska Alexis on Apple Music’s YouTube channel, the rapper discussed the emotional adjustments that came with becoming a mother and the physical and mental effects she has experienced since giving birth, including breastfeeding and signs of postpartum depression.

Latto said the pregnancy itself was planned, but the reality of finding out came with surprise, tears, and anxiety. She explained that although she wanted to have a child, she immediately began thinking about whether she was ready for the life change and how motherhood would affect her career. She said the experience forced her to think beyond herself and described it as a blessing in disguise that ultimately pushed her to choose what was best for her and her child.

The interview also addressed a viral tweet in which Latto described “Big Mama” as her retirement album. She said the post was written during an overwhelming day while she was dealing with postpartum emotions, the pressure of releasing an album, and the responsibilities of motherhood. Latto suggested that the message reflected a difficult moment rather than a final decision, and she said she is still unsure about what comes next. Her comments made clear that the tweet should be understood in the context of emotional stress rather than a confirmed farewell to music.

Latto also spoke about how much of her personal life she is willing to share publicly. While she said she is proud of what she has created and may be open to showing more of her life, she also indicated that she wants to keep her child and private matters out of the spotlight to a certain extent. She emphasized that she does not want relationship drama or details about her sex life to define her public image, saying she is too talented for that to become the center of her brand.

Another major part of the conversation focused on the baby’s gender. Latto revealed that she wanted a girl and deliberately chose not to learn the sex of the baby until birth. She said she found out she was pregnant around her 27th birthday on December 22, 2025, but decided to wait through the entire pregnancy rather than get anxious about knowing in advance. The interview offered a rare look into Latto’s life as a new mother and showed a more personal side of the rapper as she balanced family, identity, and career uncertainty.
