Joana’s Story Loses Viewers in Second Episode, but SBT Scores Big with Ratinho and A Praça é Nossa

The SBT’s new daytime drama A História de Joana, A Virgem lost audience in its second episode in Greater São Paulo after being moved to an earlier time slot. According to Ibope data obtained by NaTelinha from market sources, the series starring Camila Valero and Brandon Peniche fell to 2.8 points, down from 3.5 in its debut on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The lower result came after the change to the 8:30 p.m. slot, which appears to have impacted its performance.
Even with the drop in the opening drama, SBT had a stronger evening overall. Domênica Monteiro posted her best Thursday rating since its debut, reaching 3.2 points and even surpassing Record for 8 minutes. From that point on, the network maintained solid numbers across much of its prime-time and late-night lineup. Programa do Ratinho scored 4.6 points, A Praça é Nossa reached 4.9, The Noite marked 3.0, Operação Mesquita posted 2.4, and SBT Notícias closed with 2.0, securing second place alone in their respective time slots.
Other SBT programs also delivered positive results. Se Liga Brasil, hosted by Thiago Gardinali, set a new record with 2.6 points, also securing isolated second place. The broadcaster’s improved performance came amid mixed results from competing channels in the São Paulo market on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
On Globo, the Sessão da Tarde slot weakened the channel’s average with the film Uma Nova Chance, which drew only 8.4 points. Even so, the network still led the day with strong numbers in its main newscasts and novelas, including SP2 with 19.4, Coração Acelerado with 20.6, and Jornal Nacional with 23.0. The prime-time novela Quem Ama Cuida also performed well with 21.7, while Guerreiros do Sol registered 14.3.
Record also had notable daytime gains. Hoje em Dia improved after changing its schedule, now airing from 9:50 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and posted 3.7 points. The network’s afternoon and evening lineup was more uneven, with Balanço Geral SP at 4.9, Cidade Alerta SP at 7.3, Jornal da Record at 6.4, and Reis at 3.6.
Band continued to post modest numbers overall, though its evening newscast and sports programming did slightly better than its morning show. Jornal da Noite and Esporte Total each scored 0.5, ahead of Bora Brasil, which recorded 0.3.
Overall, the ratings picture for Thursday showed SBT gaining momentum in several segments despite the early stumble of its new soap opera, while Globo remained dominant in prime time and Record strengthened its morning performance.
