How to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday at the Country’s Most Historic Hotels

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, a wave of historic hotels and resorts is unveiling special summer experiences designed to connect travelers with the country’s past. From Boston and New York to Philadelphia, Charleston, Washington, D.C. and Williamsburg, properties with deep ties to American history are offering anniversary packages, themed menus, guided tours, and front-row access to July Fourth celebrations.
In Boston, the Omni Parker House is spotlighting its Revolutionary-era roots with “The Young Patriot Experience,” which includes a private Freedom Trail tour, a scavenger hunt for families, a New England picnic, and a stay in the Freedom Trail Suite. Also in Boston, the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is promoting discounted summer stays with its “America is Calling” package, plus options tied to major soccer events.
New York City hotels are also joining the commemoration. Hyatt Regency Times Square has introduced a “Celebrate & Stay: America Turns 250” package for late June and early July, featuring river-view rooms and a vantage point for Sail4th, the harbor event featuring tall ships. Nearby, Park Terrace Hotel offers landmark maps and welcome amenities near Bryant Park and the New York Public Library, where a rare display of Thomas Jefferson’s handwritten Declaration of Independence copy is part of the summer draw.
Philadelphia’s historic hotels are leaning into the city’s role in the nation’s founding. The Rittenhouse Hotel is offering a “Revolutionary Luxury” package with a walking tour and Pennsylvania treats, while Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia sits directly across from Independence Hall and is promoting a historic-themed stay with a colonial picnic basket. The Logan Philadelphia, Curio Collection by Hilton, is pairing its modern art setting with museum tickets and a customized map of historic sites.
In Charleston, The Mills House is marking the semiquincentennial with a package that includes special room rates and $17.76 cocktails inspired by classic recipes. The newly opened Cooper will launch its celebration with a Carolina Day cookout, live music, a drone show and waterfront Fourth of July festivities. Charleston Place is also offering a Revolutionary-era walking experience and a holiday pool party.
Washington, D.C. hotels are emphasizing heritage, history and presidential proximity. The Jefferson is using its in-house historian to create personalized itineraries, while The Watergate Hotel is debuting an Americana Suite filled with vintage design and photography. The Mayflower Hotel is serving three commemorative cocktails inspired by early American themes, and the Omni Shoreham Hotel is offering both a standard Reserve 250 package and an ultra-luxury experience centered on its legendary Beatles Suite.
Outside the major cities, Hotel Du Pont in Wilmington, Delaware, is celebrating with a historian in residence, a 1776 Society package and a historical dinner experience. Club Wyndham Kingsgate in Williamsburg is positioning itself as a family base for visits to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Under Canvas is extending the patriotic theme to 14 glamping destinations with stargazing, music and a summer credit offer.
Together, these properties are turning America’s 250th anniversary into a travel season shaped by history, hospitality and place.
