Felix Auger-Aliassime and Victoria Mboko Continue Roland-Garros Third-Round Campaigns on Saturday on TSN

Félix Auger-Aliassime and Victoria Mboko remain the last Canadians in the singles draws at Roland-Garros and will both play third-round matches on Saturday in Paris. Auger-Aliassime faces American Brandon Nakashima, while Mboko meets 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys in separate high-profile tests for Canada’s top remaining players.
Auger-Aliassime enters the match with a strong opportunity to make a deep run, especially after world No. 1 Jannik Sinner was eliminated earlier in the tournament. The 25-year-old Canadian will first need to get past Nakashima, ranked 31st in the world. The two have met only once at the ATP level, with Auger-Aliassime winning in straight sets in the 2022 Florence quarter-final. The Montreal native has already shown resilience in Paris, coming through a five-set battle against Daniel Altmaier before defeating Argentina’s Roman Andres Burruchaga in four sets. Nakashima reached the third round with wins over Roberto Bautista Agut and Luca Van Assche. If Auger-Aliassime advances, his next opponent would be either Alejandro Tabilo or home favourite Moise Kouame, while the path ahead could also include Francisco Cobolli or Learner Tien in the quarter-finals. With several top seeds already out, Auger-Aliassime is now the highest seed remaining in the top half of the draw.
Mboko also has a significant challenge ahead as she prepares to face Madison Keys for the second time this season. The Canadian beat Keys in the Adelaide quarter-final in January, their only previous meeting. Mboko, who is from Burlington, Ont., is making her second straight third-round appearance at Roland-Garros after winning two matches in her Grand Slam debut last year. Keys is an experienced clay-court player in Paris, having reached the French Open semifinals in 2018. Mboko admitted she was not at her best in her second-round win over Katerina Siniakova, but she said she was happy to survive and move on after a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 comeback victory. The 19-year-old said each match offers a chance to improve and build momentum, a mindset that could be important as the competition intensifies.
A victory would match Mboko’s best Grand Slam result, which came earlier this season when she reached the fourth round at the Australian Open. If she defeats Keys, Mboko would likely meet either Diana Shnaider or Oleksandra Oliynykova next, with a potential quarter-final against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on the horizon. Both Canadians are now within striking distance of major breakthrough runs in Paris, with the second week of Roland-Garros drawing closer and their ambitions still alive.
