Emergency services respond to serious collision outside Dundalk

Part of the Dundalk/Ardee Road remains closed this evening after a serious road crash at Dunmahon, outside Dundalk. The collision happened at around 12.30pm and involved two motorbikes and a jeep.

Emergency services, including gardaí, fire and rescue personnel and the National Ambulance Service, attended the scene. While gardaí have not yet issued a formal update on the incident, it is understood that several casualties were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

The road closure is affecting the R215 between Martin’s Cross and the junction with the L3168, near Junction 16 of the M1 at Dundalk South. Garda forensic collision investigators are expected to examine the scene, and the road is likely to remain closed for several hours.

Motorists have been advised that local delays are likely while the investigation continues and the area remains under traffic restrictions. The crash has caused significant disruption on one of the main routes linking Dundalk and Ardee, with diversions expected to remain in place until the scene has been cleared.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the extent of the injuries or the number of people involved in the collision. Further updates are expected once gardaí complete their initial assessment and the road can be reopened safely.
