Disney Names This Luxury Points-Favorite as an Official Partner Hotel

Walt Disney World has added Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando as an official Walt Disney World Gateway Hotel, giving Disney fans and points travelers a new option that blends loyalty-program value with added park convenience. The resort, located less than a mile from the Disney park gates, has long been popular with World of Hyatt members seeking a high-end stay without paying Disney resort rates. With the new designation, guests can now use hotel points while also gaining a more connected Disney vacation experience.

The Gateway Hotel status brings several practical benefits for visitors. Travelers staying at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress will have access to complimentary transportation to Walt Disney World parks, on-site vacation planning assistance and smoother access to select Disney ticket packages. That combination makes the hotel feel more like part of the Disney ecosystem, while still preserving the flexibility and rewards value of an off-property stay.

The announcement is especially notable because it comes shortly after Hyatt moved the property from Category 4 to Category 5 in its award chart. For points travelers, that change means the hotel now requires more loyalty points than before, which may initially appear less attractive from a redemption standpoint. However, the new Disney Gateway Hotel benefits may help offset that higher award cost by adding convenience and a more seamless vacation experience.

For many Orlando visitors, this development addresses a long-standing tradeoff. Staying on Disney property often delivers the most immersive experience, but it can come with significantly higher prices. Off-site hotels, even upscale ones, may offer better value through points but usually lack the same transportation and planning support. Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress now sits in the middle, offering a resort-style stay with added Disney access that narrows the gap between the two options.

The hotel itself is known for its spacious grounds and relaxing atmosphere, making it a strong choice for travelers who want a break from the pace of the theme parks. Its close proximity to Walt Disney World also gives guests a convenient midday retreat. Visitors can spend the morning riding popular attractions, return to the hotel for time at the lagoon-style pools or other amenities, and head back to the parks later for dinner, nighttime entertainment and fireworks.

Disney Destinations said in a statement that it was pleased to work with Hyatt on the relationship, describing the partnership as one that brings more of the “magic” of a Walt Disney World vacation into the Grand Cypress experience. For travelers who value both premium accommodations and efficient use of points, the property now offers one of the most appealing compromise options in the Orlando market.

With the new Gateway Hotel designation, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is positioned as a rare blend of luxury, loyalty-program value and Disney convenience, giving guests another way to enjoy Walt Disney World without committing to a full on-site resort stay.
