Dayna Kathan Comes Out as a Lesbian on Vanderpump Rules
Dayna Kathan is celebrating Pride Month by publicly coming out as a lesbian. The former Vanderpump Rules star shared the news on Instagram on June 7, posting a photo with friends while wearing a cropped tank top that read “Gay.” In her caption, Kathan wrote, “Shout out to my fellow late in life lesbians!!” and added, “HAPPY PRIDE!!!”
Kathan, who is 35, later opened up more about her journey in an Instagram Story on June 10. She said her experience with queerness was not straightforward and described it as a process that was “not linear” and at times “very scary and confusing.” Her comments suggested that coming to terms with her identity took time and personal reflection before she felt ready to share it publicly.
Before coming out as a lesbian, Kathan had previously identified as bisexual. She discussed that identity on Vanderpump Rules in 2020 and connected with former castmate Ariana Madix over their shared queer experiences. Madix, who is bisexual, spoke with Kathan during the show, where Kathan said she felt “so much lighter” after opening up. In a confessional interview at the time, she recalled sensing from a young age that she was different and said she noticed attraction to both genders in middle school.
Kathan’s announcement comes as Pride Month continues to bring attention to LGBTQ visibility and personal stories of self-discovery. Her post reflects a growing number of public figures sharing candid updates about their sexuality and the challenges of understanding their identity over time. By speaking openly about her path, Kathan joins other entertainers who have used social media to mark Pride and connect with fans through honest accounts of their experiences.
The former reality TV personality is also known for her work on the Disrespectfully podcast, where she has discussed various parts of her life beyond Vanderpump Rules. Her recent posts highlight a more personal chapter and show how her understanding of herself has evolved since her days on the Bravo series.
Kathan’s message resonated with the theme of late-in-life self-realization, a phrase she embraced directly in her caption. Her disclosure adds to the ongoing conversation around sexuality, identity, and the freedom many people feel after living openly. For fans who followed her journey on reality television, the announcement offers a fuller picture of her life today and the meaning behind her public celebration of Pride.
