Bihar Police Recruitment Exam Candidates Protest at Patliputra Station, Vandalize Train and Stone-Pelt Police; IG Among Injured

Thousands of candidates heading to take the Bihar Police Prohibition Department recruitment examination created chaos at Patliputra Station on Sunday after a shortage of trains and repeated delays raised fears that they would miss their exam. Angered by the situation, students blocked railway tracks, stopped trains, threw stones at railway property and damaged an exam special train. The unrest left several police personnel injured, according to reports.
The examination was scheduled in two shifts, and many candidates had reached the station late at night to travel to their allotted centers. However, the lack of adequate train arrangements and late arrivals of trains caused growing frustration among the aspirants. As the uncertainty increased, tension escalated further when an exam special train from Patliputra to Katihar arrived at the station.
The arrival of the special train triggered a rush and confusion among the waiting candidates. In protest, several students sat on the tracks in front of the Patliputra-Katihar exam special train and began raising slogans against the railway administration. The demonstration quickly turned violent when some miscreants damaged the train and started throwing stones.
The situation soon spiraled out of control, prompting police from multiple stations to rush to the scene. As the crowd became increasingly aggressive, police fired three rounds in the air to bring the situation under control.
During the clash, IG Jitendra Rana and the Rupaspur station house officer sustained minor injuries. In view of the seriousness of the incident, additional police forces were deployed at the station to prevent further escalation.
At present, IG Jitendra Rana, the SP, Danapur SDO, ASP and personnel from several police stations remain deployed at the spot. Police and railway officials are trying to calm the protesting candidates and restore normalcy. The railway administration has also arranged special trains on an urgent basis so that candidates can be transported to different examination centers on time.
The incident caused major disruption at Patliputra Station and highlighted the pressure on transport arrangements during large-scale recruitment examinations. Authorities are continuing efforts to manage the crowd, ensure the safety of passengers and police personnel, and facilitate the movement of students to their exam venues.
