Copa Argentina: major security operation deployed for Barracas Central vs. Huracán in Sarandí

The Buenos Aires Province Ministry of Security, through the Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sport (APreViDe), announced a security operation for the Copa Argentina match between Barracas Central and Huracán, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 9:10 p.m. at Julio Humberto Grondona Stadium, home of Arsenal in Sarandí. Both fan bases will be present for the match, which will be covered by a large security deployment. Around 300 police officers will be assigned to the operation, alongside 25 Utedyc staff members and 20 private security agents. Stadium gates will open at 7:10 p.m., and supporters are being advised to arrive early with their ticket and national ID in hand. Mobile admission-control devices will be used to verify access and enforce entry restrictions.

APreViDe detailed separate access routes for each team’s supporters. Barracas Central fans will enter through General Plaza and Julio Humberto Grondona streets, using Gate 1 for the seating section and Gate 2 for the standing area. Recommended approach routes include Maipú, Belgrano, Mariano Acosta, Montes de Oca, Avenida Roca and Avenida Debenedetti. Huracán supporters will access the stadium via Avenida Nicaragua to Morse Street, entering through Gate 5 for the standing section and Gate 8 for the seating area. Organizers recommended reaching the venue via the Buenos Aires-La Plata highway and taking the Parque Comercial Avellaneda exit in Sarandí.

Authorities reminded fans that items linked to other clubs are not allowed, including shirts, badges or any identifying clothing from rival institutions. The use of fireworks, paper, and banners promoting violence is also prohibited. Anyone caught handling pyrotechnics or involved in disturbances may be identified and sanctioned under current sports security regulations. APreViDe asked attendees to respect the scheduled entry and exit times and cooperate with all security and organizational measures, especially since both fan groups will attend the match.

Rules for minors were also clarified. Children up to 11 years old must purchase a child ticket if that category is available; otherwise, they must buy a general admission ticket. In the plate seating section, children up to 3 years old may enter free of charge, while older children must have a paid ticket. Officials again urged spectators to arrive early to help speed up entry checks and reduce delays before kickoff.
