Euphoria Season 3 Finale Ending Explained: Rue’s Fate and More

The Euphoria Season 3 finale, titled “In God We Trust,” delivers a chaotic and violent conclusion that begins immediately after the previous episode’s cliffhanger. Rue Bennett is caught stealing from Wayne, triggering a rapid chase that turns into a dangerous escape. After Wayne reaches for his gun, Rue strikes back with a wrench, knocks out Faye, and flees. She is then tracked down by Harley on horseback, but G intervenes from a distance and shoots Harley, helping Rue get away.
Meanwhile, Maddy and Cassie learn that Nate has died and are left stunned at a diner, where Cassie comforts Maddy and tells her they will face the fallout together. Elsewhere, Alamo Brown rewards Rue with drugs and money after what appears to be a successful job. Rue stays at Ali’s home while recovering from injuries, but the situation quickly becomes more complicated as Wayne realizes Laurie has been set up by Alamo and leaves with Faye.
The DEA then raids Laurie’s operation and arrests several people tied to the drug shipment, though the ambulance is later found to contain no drugs. In a separate move, Bishop is shown delivering the actual drugs to Alamo’s location, revealing a deeper setup. Harley eventually surrenders to police, while Laurie takes her own life before authorities can arrest her, adding another tragic turn to the finale.
The episode then shifts into a devastating twist: Rue sees news reports that Fezco has escaped custody and tells Ali she must go find him. She visits Fezco’s store and then returns home, where she reunites emotionally with her mother. The sequence is later revealed to be a dream. In reality, Ali discovers Rue unconscious on the couch the next morning. He tests the pills Alamo gave her and learns they were laced with fentanyl, confirming that Rue has died from an overdose.
The aftermath shows Cassie and Maddy living together in the house Cassie once shared with Nate. Cassie suggests taking in other girls in exchange for room and board, but Lexi rejects the idea. The show also makes clear that no one has fully explained what happened to Nate. Lexi speaks about the pain of losing Rue to drugs, underscoring the emotional toll on the group.
Ali later confronts G at the strip club, demanding answers about Rue’s death and the pills that killed her. When he does not get the truth, he shoots G, escalating the violence. Alamo appears, using Maddy as a shield, and a tense standoff follows. Ali says Rue sent him, and Alamo assumes it is a personal reckoning. But Bishop betrays Alamo by giving him an unloaded gun, and Ali shoots him three times, killing him.
Maddy is relieved by Alamo’s death, while Ali later visits the family Rue had been staying with to tell them she is in a better place. The finale ends on a grim note, closing out the season with death, betrayal, and the tragic cost of the characters’ choices.
