New “Fix and Fall” Tariff Launches to Offer Energy Customers Greater Peace of Mind

British Gas has launched a new energy tariff called Fix & Fall, designed to give customers price certainty while also offering protection if the market improves. The deal fixes rates for two years, but after the first 12 months British Gas will automatically reduce customer rates if the Ofgem price cap falls, allowing households to benefit from lower costs without switching plans.
The company says the tariff is the first of its kind in the market. It is being introduced amid ongoing uncertainty in the energy sector and was developed following feedback from hundreds of customers during a trial period. British Gas said the scheme aims to combine the reassurance of a fixed tariff with the flexibility to pass on savings if prices drop.
Under the terms of the tariff, customers could see their rates lowered by up to £50 on the average dual fuel bill if prices fall on 1 July 2027. British Gas is also offering extra savings through its PeakSave scheme, with half-price electricity available between 11am and 4pm on Sundays for customers on the tariff.
Alongside the new tariff, British Gas is highlighting financial support for households struggling with energy bills. The company said help is available directly and through the British Gas Energy Trust, an independent charity funded entirely by British Gas. Earlier this month, the firm committed £40 million to support people facing financial hardship. The funding is intended to help thousands of households dealing with rising energy costs and wider cost-of-living pressures through grants and advice from the trust.
British Gas is also expanding its Warm and Working scheme, which provides free home upgrades, boiler servicing and energy-efficiency improvements for vulnerable households. Over the coming months, British Gas engineers will visit 1,000 homes across the UK to carry out free checks and upgrades. The programme will include eligible households that are not British Gas customers.
Gary Booker, managing director of British Gas, said the Fix & Fall tariff was designed to give customers peace of mind by keeping prices stable for two years while still allowing them to benefit if rates fall in the first year. He said the company understands that many customers remain worried about energy costs and wants to provide as much support as possible.
Booker added that British Gas will be carrying out free boiler checks and upgrades during the summer to help heating systems work more efficiently and prepare homes for the colder months. He also said support is available for anyone struggling with the cost of energy through the British Gas Energy Trust.
