Rod Stewart Cancels Las Vegas Show on Doctor’s Advice

Rod Stewart has canceled two Las Vegas residency performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after coming down with a sinus infection and being placed on vocal rest. A representative for the 81-year-old singer said the shows scheduled for May 29 and May 30 were called off on doctor’s orders, with Stewart expected to return to the stage beginning June 2. Stewart also addressed fans directly, apologizing for the cancellations and saying he hopes to see audiences at a future Caesars Palace show or later on his summer tour.
Ticketmaster reportedly notified ticket holders that refunds would be available for the canceled performances. The shows were part of Stewart’s Encore Shows residency run in Las Vegas, which was originally set to continue from May 27 through June 6 before resuming again from August 18 to August 29.
The cancellation is the latest health-related interruption to Stewart’s live schedule. In a previous incident, he canceled what would have been his 200th Las Vegas show after developing strep throat. At that time, he expressed regret about missing the milestone performance, noting that he was unable to perform despite the illness. Stewart has also postponed a Las Vegas residency show in the past, announcing hours before showtime that the performance would be rescheduled and that tickets would remain valid for the new date.
Despite stepping back from large-scale world tours in 2024, Stewart has said he has no intention of retiring from music. In a social media post, he explained that he still loves performing and wants to continue doing what he enjoys. He suggested that future plans could include smaller-scale shows, possibly centered on Great American Songbook and Swing Fever material, with a greater focus on intimacy and venue size.
Last year, Stewart also announced a One Last Time tour, which was set to stretch from Connecticut to Missouri and later other cities. Even as he has spoken about slowing down, he has continued to emphasize that he remains active, fit and committed to performing. His latest cancellation adds another short pause to a career marked by decades of touring, residencies and live appearances, but his team says the immediate plan is for him to return after recovering from the infection.
