Ulverston Retro Rendezvous Festival Returns to Town Centre

Live bands, vintage street traders, classic cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles filled the streets for the Retro Rendezvous Festival, which took place from May 30 to May 31.
On Saturday, motorcycles and scooter exhibits were displayed in the Market Street narrows between New Market Street and Bogden Street, alongside cycle jumble stalls offering accessories for keen riders. Regular market traders also took part, keeping the usual market atmosphere in place.
The free event continued on Sunday with the return of the Velo Retro cycling event to Market Street, as old-school cycling events were held across the Lake District. Classic cars were also showcased in New Market Street, with vehicles entering via County Square.
Live music ran on both days at The Sun beer garden from 12pm to 6pm, while the festival was supported by specialist market traders throughout the weekend.
This year, organisers also appealed to the public for help in fundraising for next year’s event so it can remain free and open to all. They said the request was due to “vastly increased and unexpected road closure charges from Westmorland and Furness Council”, along with other rising costs.
The festival brought together a mix of transport heritage, live entertainment and market activity, creating a busy weekend of nostalgia and community interest. With bikes, scooters, cars and live performances all featured across the two days, the event highlighted the appeal of retro-themed gatherings and the effort needed to keep them accessible.
