Jennifer Lopez Shares Memories of First Meeting With Office Romance Co-Star Brett Goldstein

Jennifer Lopez offered a lighthearted account of meeting Brett Goldstein for the first time while promoting their upcoming Netflix romantic comedy Office Romance, saying their first interaction felt “friendly and easy.” The pair appeared together at the film’s world premiere at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre on May 26, where they walked the red carpet side by side and spoke briefly with Variety about their off-screen dynamic and the chemistry that helped shape their on-screen pairing.
Lopez said the connection was immediate and comfortable. She explained that, from the start, the meeting did not feel awkward and that Goldstein came across as approachable. In a playful remark, Lopez said she did not get the sense that he was a “weirdo,” adding that sometimes a new working relationship can begin with a slightly strange first impression that still somehow works. Turning to Goldstein, she joked, “You weren’t a weirdo! Yay!” Goldstein responded with amusement, saying that she was the first person to tell him that and calling the moment a delight.
Goldstein agreed that the first meeting was simple and natural. He said they were laughing together and that the encounter felt easy from the beginning. He also reflected on the pressure of pitching the project to Lopez, acknowledging that he was very nervous about presenting her with a script he had written for her. Goldstein said he was already a major fan of Lopez and admired her talent, but he did not know whether they would connect well enough to make a strong film together. He described the process as a gamble, while adding that he was very pleased with the final result.
The premiere drew several members of the cast and creative team. Along with Lopez and Goldstein, attendees included Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Edward James Olmos, Jodie Whittaker, Jackie Sandler, Mary Wiseman and Tony Hale. Their presence highlighted the ensemble nature of the film and the anticipation surrounding its release.
Office Romance is set to debut on Netflix on June 5. The story centers on a secret romance between an airline president and chief executive, played by Lopez, and the company’s new lawyer, portrayed by Goldstein. As the relationship develops, the film explores how the romance quickly spirals into chaos, creating complications in both the characters’ professional and personal lives.
The comments from Lopez and Goldstein offered a glimpse of the easy rapport behind the camera and suggested that the collaboration was built on mutual admiration, humor and trust. Their remarks at the premiere helped set the stage for the film’s release, presenting Office Romance as a comedic love story shaped by genuine chemistry both on and off screen.
