Brad Pitt’s F1 Sequel Gets a Disappointing New Update

Kerry Condon has shared a new update on the status of Brad Pitt’s planned F1 sequel, saying that work is moving forward but that fans may have to wait longer than hoped. In an interview with ScreenRant, Condon said the team likes the script and is enthusiastic about what they have developed so far, but the biggest obstacle is scheduling. According to her, the sequel will likely depend on when director Joseph Kosinski is available and, just as importantly, on the Formula One racing calendar.

Condon explained that the production has to work around real-world F1 events, which makes timing more complicated than a standard studio sequel. The original F1 film was made with a highly immersive approach, filming large portions during actual Grand Prix weekends and placing the cast and crew on real tracks around the world. That method helped the movie stand out for its realism and was widely praised by audiences and critics. Because the sequel is expected to follow a similar model, coordinating filming will likely require careful planning around both Kosinski’s busy directing schedule and the sport’s own global calendar.

The update suggests that the sequel is still in active development rather than stalled. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer had previously indicated that the team was already discussing story ideas for a follow-up, and Condon’s comments reinforce that the project remains on track creatively. However, she made clear that a release is not imminent. Her remarks point to a longer timeline, with the production waiting for the right window to begin moving ahead.

The first F1 film, which was released in June 2025, became one of Apple’s biggest theatrical successes and also earned a Best Picture nomination. Brad Pitt led the cast as Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver returning to Formula One, alongside Damson Idris. The film’s ending left room for a continuation, fueling speculation about where the story could go next. With the sequel now being shaped behind the scenes, the franchise appears set to expand if the logistics can be worked out.

Condon also has another film coming soon. She is next set to appear in Pressure, which arrives in theaters on May 29 and co-stars Brendan Fraser and Andrew Scott.
