Helen Mirren Addresses and Dismisses Tom Hardy Feud Rumors

Dame Helen Mirren has addressed reports surrounding Tom Hardy’s alleged firing from MobLand with a quiet but notable show of support. On Thursday, May 28, Mirren posted an image of Hardy on Instagram with the words “Love you now and always,” and turned off comments on the post. The gesture came after earlier reports in May claimed Hardy had been removed from the Paramount+ series ahead of Season 3 because of tensions on set.
According to those reports, Hardy was said to have been unprofessional during production, with allegations that he arrived late, changed dialogue, and suggested rewrites. The claims also suggested that some of this behavior frustrated Mirren, who co-stars with Hardy on the series and has worked in the industry for decades. However, Mirren’s recent post does not directly confirm or deny those accusations. Instead, it reads as a clear expression of affection and support for Hardy.
MobLand is an ensemble crime drama, but Hardy has been its central figure, playing a calm, charismatic mob fixer. That has made the situation more complicated, since losing or replacing him would be difficult for the production. Earlier reports said the show was scrambling to adjust after the alleged fallout, with the creative team and producers trying to find a path forward.
Variety previously reported that Hardy had clashed not only with Jez Butterworth but also with 101 Studios and others involved in the project. The outlet described the situation as one in which Hardy was in conflict with multiple sides, not just a single individual. That kind of broad tension reportedly created pressure on the production, especially because Hardy’s role is so essential to the show’s identity.
Now, however, it appears the decision to part ways with Hardy may have been reversed. Guy Ritchie, who serves as an executive producer on MobLand, is reportedly urging David Glasser and 101 Studios to “make it work” with Hardy. If that effort succeeds, the series may avoid a major recasting or storyline overhaul.
Mirren’s Instagram post has added another layer to the story, especially because it comes amid speculation that she was one of the actors unhappy with Hardy. While she did not address the rumors directly, her message suggests there is no personal hostility between the two stars. At minimum, she appears willing to publicly stand by her co-star as the production works through the dispute.
For now, MobLand remains in a state of uncertainty, but the latest signs point toward an attempt to keep Hardy in place rather than write him out.
