When Is the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair? Everything to Know

The United States is preparing for a major nationwide celebration in Washington, D.C., as the country approaches its 250th anniversary. The Freedom 250 Great American State Fair is scheduled to take place on the National Mall from June 25 through July 10, 2026, bringing together all 50 states and U.S. territories for 16 days of exhibits, entertainment, food, and cultural programming. The event is part of the broader Freedom 250 commemoration marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Organizers say the fair is designed to showcase American culture, history, and unity on a large public stage. The event will feature state exhibits, live performances, rides, food vendors, and themed attractions meant to highlight the diversity of the nation. It is expected to draw visitors from across the country and serve as one of the central events in the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.
The fair has recently attracted attention because several performers withdrew from the concert lineup after the announcement. In response, Freedom 250 spokesperson Rachel Reisner said organizers respect the rights of artists to make their own decisions and stressed that the fair is intended to celebrate “250 years of American freedom, culture and unity.” She said the event should remain focused on the significance of the national milestone rather than controversy surrounding the lineup.
Despite the withdrawals, the fair remains open to the public at no cost. Organizers are encouraging advance registration, although walk-up attendance is also expected to be available. The event is positioned as a family-friendly national gathering that welcomes attendees from every state and territory.
The lineup has changed considerably in recent weeks. Artists who have publicly withdrawn include Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, The Commodores, Morris Day and The Time, and Milli Vanilli. Their departures have left parts of the entertainment schedule in flux, and organizers have signaled that more announcements may follow before the event opens.
At present, Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice remain among the performers still scheduled to appear. The status of C+C Music Factory has not been fully clarified, adding to uncertainty around the final concert roster. With more than a month before the fair begins, organizers continue to work on the programming while emphasizing the scale and symbolic importance of the event.
The Freedom 250 Great American State Fair is being promoted as a landmark celebration of the nation’s history and identity. Set against the backdrop of the National Mall, it aims to unite all 56 states and territories in a single public event that blends entertainment with civic pride. As preparations continue, the fair is expected to remain one of the most visible and closely watched elements of the country’s 250th anniversary observance.
