John Travolta Responds to Beret Buzz During Propeller Press Tour, Joins Daughter Ella at L.A. Premiere

John Travolta is embracing berets as part of his recent public image while promoting his new film Propeller One-Way Night Coach. The 72-year-old actor, who directed the movie, appeared at the Los Angeles premiere on Thursday, May 28, alongside his daughter Ella Bleu Travolta and cast members Clark Shotwell, Kelly Eviston-Quinnett, Olga Hoffmann, Alina Rose Armstrong, and Edouard Philipponnat.
During the event, Travolta explained to Variety that he now owns 12 berets and sees the accessory as a playful nod to classic style. He said he was inspired after looking back at photos from his 50-year career and feeling that many images looked too similar. Travolta said he wanted to change things up and pointed to older directors, who often wore berets and glasses, as a look that felt both old-school and creative. He described the style as a reflection of painters and musicians and said he likes the idea of men having more freedom to experiment with fashion.
Travolta also joked that men do not have enough options when it comes to style and suggested that fashion should be more fun and expressive. His beret-wearing appearances have therefore become part of the film’s promotional tour, giving him a distinctive visual signature as he supports the project.
Propeller One-Way Night Coach stars Ella Bleu Travolta and features John Travolta as narrator, with Travolta also appearing as the older version of the main character. The story is set during the golden age of aviation and follows a young airplane enthusiast named Jeff, played by Clark Shotwell, and his mother, played by Kelly Eviston-Quinnett, as they embark on a cross-country trip to Hollywood. What begins as a one-way flight becomes an eventful journey filled with airline meals, flight attendants, unexpected stopovers, memorable passengers, and a glimpse of first-class travel.
The film aims to capture both the charm and imagination of air travel in an earlier era, while showing how the experience shapes the boy’s future. Ella Bleu Travolta appears in the cast as one of the flight attendants, alongside Olga Hoffmann.
The movie is now streaming on Apple TV. Ella Bleu Travolta is John Travolta’s daughter with his late wife, actress Kelly Preston, who died in 2020 at age 57 following a battle with breast cancer.
Travolta’s latest appearance continues to draw attention not only to the film itself but also to his unusual fashion choice, which he says is meant to be creative, nostalgic, and a little bit playful.
