The God of the Woods TV Series Cast Adds Five in Exclusive Update
Netflix’s drama series The God of the Woods has added five new series regulars: Damon Gupton, Susannah Perkins, Benjamin Walker, Nell Fisher, and Autumn Molina. The series is based on Liz Moore’s New York Times bestselling novel and is already toplined by Maya Hawke, Kerry Condon, and Ella Rubin.
Set in the Adirondacks, the story centers on the Van Laar family, whose wealth and influence conceal deep secrets, long-standing class tensions, and a disturbing mystery. At the heart of the series is the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp. Her vanishing comes after an earlier family tragedy, and the two events may be connected. As the story moves between past and present, the series explores how privilege, power, and abuse can damage families and communities while the Van Laar image begins to crumble.
Nell Fisher will portray Barbara Van Laar, described as an artistic, headstrong teenager with punk sensibilities. Barbara goes to Camp Emerson looking for distance from a troubled home life and finds a sense of connection with campers and counselors. Although she is still young, she is forced to grow up quickly and make difficult decisions well before her time.
Damon Gupton plays Denny Hayes, a captain in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Denny is a thoughtful investigator, but he must navigate the balance between his established personal peace and his working relationship with new colleague Judy Luptack, played by Hawke.
Susannah Perkins takes on the role of TJ Hewitt, the steady and quietly authoritative director of Camp Emerson. When a camper disappears, TJ is one of the first to respond and quickly moves into action.
Benjamin Walker joins the cast as Peter Van Laar III, the wealthy heir to the Van Laar estate. He is portrayed as imposing, entitled, and humorless, with behavior that creates ongoing tension for his wife, Alice, and their 13-year-old daughter.
Autumn Molina plays Tracy Jewell, a determined young camper at Emerson who becomes deeply involved in the search for her missing bunkmate. Her efforts to help drive the investigation put her own safety at risk.
The series is executive produced and co-showrun by Liz Hannah and Liz Moore, with Sony Pictures Television behind the project. Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty are also executive producers for Original Film.
