Carol Celico publicly addressed a statement that has circulated for years on social media and in international headlines, denying that she ever said she separated from former soccer player Kaká because he was “too perfect.” In a video posted on Instagram, the entrepreneur said the quote was repeatedly distorted and presented as if it were an exact remark from her, when in fact she never made such a claim.
“Por muito tempo eu fiquei em silêncio. Mas agora vi que eu não deveria ficar mais,” she said, explaining that she decided to speak out after seeing the phrase continue to spread. Carol stated clearly that the story linking her divorce to Kaká’s supposed perfection is false. She emphasized that she “never said” she ended the marriage because he was “perfect demais,” calling the repeated attribution a lie.
According to Carol, the quote originated after an interview she gave in 2022 to a foreign journalist. She said the conversation was later interpreted in a way that transformed a media interpretation into what appeared to be a literal quotation from her. In her account, international tabloids helped amplify the claim, and that version of events was then repeated across multiple platforms as if it were a direct statement from her own words.
Carol stressed that the phrase was never spoken by her and that the wording attributed to her was fabricated through repetition and misrepresentation. She argued that the problem grew larger over time because the supposed quote was published in both Brazilian and international outlets with quotation marks, creating the impression that it had been taken from an official interview. “Isso nunca aconteceu,” she said, underscoring that the statement was never part of any conversation she gave as a direct quote.
The clarification comes years after the end of her marriage to Kaká, with whom she shares two older children. By speaking publicly now, Carol sought to correct what she described as a long-standing misconception that has followed her online and in the press. Her comments highlight how a single interpreted remark can evolve into a widely repeated narrative when reproduced without verification.
The episode also reflects the speed at which celebrity stories can spread across borders and be reshaped by tabloids, reposts, and headlines. In Carol’s view, the repeated use of quotation marks around the alleged statement gave the false impression of authenticity. Her video aimed to set the record straight and separate the real content of the 2022 interview from the version that later gained traction worldwide.
With her statement, Carol Celico directly challenged one of the most persistent public narratives tied to her separation from Kaká, insisting that the widely shared quote was never hers.
