Olandria Reveals How She Prepared for Coachella With a Barbie-Inspired Look
Olandria Carthen made her first-ever Coachella appearance on Friday, arriving ready to embrace the festival with a Barbie-inspired persona she dubbed “Barblandria.” Visiting Barbie’s bright pink activation on the opening day of the festival, she posed beside a hologram featuring Paris Hilton and herself, turning the moment into a playful debut that matched the event’s high-energy, fashion-forward atmosphere.
Carthen said she had been preparing for Coachella for weeks, carefully building a packing list that included mini fans, sunscreen, body glow, mini deodorant, cowboy hats, multiple bandanas, press-on nails in different colors and sizes, and earplugs. Beauty and comfort were both priorities, and she described her signature festival look as one that shines, saying she likes to mix body shimmer, gel oil, and sunscreen for an extra glossy finish.
Fashion is also a major part of her Coachella identity. She teased a “scandalous” brown outfit custom-made by Baby Phat as her favorite look of the weekend, suggesting that style will be central to her festival presence. Her approach to the event is less about simply attending and more about performing a mood: she said she sees herself as a dancer with a drink in hand, moving to the music and fully leaning into the spirit of the weekend. Her drink of choice is a French 75.
One of the biggest draws for Carthen is Justin Bieber, who is scheduled to perform on Saturday. A longtime fan, she said she has followed him since childhood and especially enjoys his newer music, including “Yukon,” which she praised for its R&B influence. For her, the performance is a major highlight of the weekend and adds to the personal excitement of the trip.
The festival is especially meaningful because she attended with two best friends who had also never been to Coachella before. Sharing the experience with them made the event feel more personal and memorable, reflecting her effort to include friends and family in major milestones since rising to fame. Carthen said that while celebrity life can be intense and exhausting, she tries to make room for the people closest to her and continue adapting to the demands of her busy career.
She spoke candidly about the pressures of fame, saying that building a brand requires dedication, hard work, sacrifices, and constant effort. Despite the strain, she said she is handling it as best she can and remains committed to the lifestyle she has built. After several nonstop days at the festival, she said her recovery plan for Monday is simple: rest, stay in bed, and binge-watch a show.
Carthen’s Coachella debut blended beauty, fashion, friendship, and music, marking a carefully planned first appearance at one of the year’s most visible festivals.
