The United States Department of Homeland Security said that Brazilian national Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla, known as “Don,” was holding his wife in captivity while preparing to flee to Mexico. He was arrested this month and described by U.S. authorities as a former leader of the criminal organizations Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV), though the U.S. government did not provide details about the alleged link between him and those groups.
According to the statement, Dell Aquilla is wanted by Interpol at Brazil’s request on accusations of criminal association and extortion. His arrest was announced on Monday.
U.S. police said Dell Aquilla tried to escape a law enforcement stop in his vehicle, triggering a chase that ended when he crashed into several parked cars. He then reportedly attempted to flee on foot, but officers detained him shortly afterward.
Authorities did not disclose further details about the alleged domestic abuse case or the broader investigation. The arrest adds an international dimension to a case that involves Brazilian organized crime allegations, an Interpol alert, and a fugitive pursuit in the United States.
There is no independent confirmation in the statement of the alleged role linking Dell Aquilla to PCC and CV, but U.S. officials presented him as a former chief of the two criminal factions. The case remains under investigation, and the Brazilian suspect is expected to face legal proceedings related to the charges and extradition-related actions, depending on the requests filed by Brazilian authorities.
