Seiko Launches New £300 Collaboration Watch Inspired by Cult Classic Anime Series

Seiko has unveiled a new anime-inspired watch tied to the beloved Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, joining a growing lineup of pop culture-themed timepieces from the Japanese watchmaker. The design pays tribute to Edward Elric and the world of the series with a range of carefully placed references that fans will immediately recognize.
The black dial features the iconic red alchemic transmutation circle, a central symbol in Fullmetal Alchemist that represents the flow of energy and power. Another nod to the series appears in the bottom-right portion of the dial, where the brothers’ Flaming Cross emblem is included. The hour markers also draw inspiration from Edward Elric’s automail right arm, echoing the mechanical screws that define the character’s signature prosthetic limb.
A small seconds sub-dial adds yet another layer of detail, showing the Amestris military emblem with its dragon illustration. In low light, the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions glow green, matching the luminous hour and minute hands. The overall effect is subtle but deliberate, giving the watch a design language that is deeply rooted in the anime without feeling overly flashy.
The tribute continues on the caseback, where the phrase “Don’t forget 3. OCT. 11.” is engraved. This line references the message associated with Edward’s pocket watch in the series, reinforcing the watch’s connection to the story’s emotional core. Packaging has also been carefully themed: the crimson wrapping paper and display box echo the color of Edward’s signature cloak, while the box itself includes another well-known quote from the franchise, “Stand up and walk. You have two perfectly good legs, don’t you?”
From a technical standpoint, Seiko has revealed that the model is a chronograph with a 12-hour counter and a tachymeter bezel. The brand has not yet shared many additional specifications, but the watch clearly blends functional watchmaking with collectible appeal.
At launch, the watch has only been announced for the Japanese market through anime e-commerce platform AMNIBUS. It will be priced at ¥65,780, which is roughly $410. For now, there is no confirmed information about an international release, leaving fans outside Japan waiting to see whether Seiko will expand availability beyond its domestic market.
The watch is the latest example of how anime collaborations continue to influence the watch industry, especially when the source material has a strong visual identity and a dedicated global fan base. By weaving together symbols, quotes, and design cues from Fullmetal Alchemist, Seiko has created a timepiece that functions as both a watch and a collector’s item.
