Anya Taylor-Joy Joins The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum
Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, the upcoming film set in the fantasy universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien. The project is being directed by Andy Serkis, who will also reprise his role as Gollum, marking another return to the character he helped define on screen.
The film is bringing back several familiar faces from the Lord of the Rings franchise. Ian McKellen is set to return as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Lee Pace as King Thranduil. Alongside them, the movie is adding a new group of cast members, expanding the ensemble for the latest installment in the Middle-earth story.
Taylor-Joy will play Seren, a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Realm. The character is described as a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil, suggesting a role connected to the political and military world of the Elves. Her casting adds another high-profile name to a production already drawing attention for combining returning franchise actors with new additions.
Other new cast members include Kate Winslet as Marigol, Jamie Dornan as Strider, and Leo Woodall as Halvard. The mix of established stars and newer talent indicates that the film is building a broad ensemble around the central figure of Gollum and the larger events connected to Middle-earth.
The Hunt for Gollum continues the expansion of the Lord of the Rings screen universe, which remains one of the most recognizable fantasy franchises in modern cinema. With Serkis both directing and starring, the film is expected to lean heavily on character-driven storytelling centered on one of the saga’s most complex figures.
The return of McKellen, Wood, and Pace has also generated interest among fans of the original trilogy and related adaptations. Their involvement suggests that the film will connect closely to familiar storylines and characters while introducing new ones that deepen the world around them.
Taylor-Joy’s addition marks another major development for the production as casting continues to take shape. Known for her wide range of film and television roles, she brings further star power to a project already anchored by a well-known creative team and legacy cast.
As more details emerge, the film is shaping up to be a major new chapter in the Lord of the Rings franchise, blending returning icons, new characters, and a story focused on Gollum’s place in the larger Middle-earth narrative.
