Eminem’s Daughter Alaina Says Her “Heart Is Breaking” as Maternity Leave Ends

Alaina Marie Scott, the 33-year-old adopted daughter of rapper Eminem, shared an emotional update on Instagram as she prepared to return to work after ending her maternity leave, two months after welcoming her first child with husband Matt Moeller. In a heartfelt post published on Sunday, June 14, Scott reflected on the emotional intensity of the first weeks of motherhood, describing the experience as a period in which time seemed to both slow down and move quickly. She wrote about the joy of holding her newborn’s tiny fingers, late-night feedings, sleepy cuddles, and the deep love she has felt since becoming a mother.
Scott, who gave birth to daughter Scottie, said she had spent the past two months cherishing every moment with her baby and trying to remember each detail before returning to her job. She expressed sadness about leaving her newborn while also acknowledging how meaningful the bond has been. In her message, she noted that one day she would rock her daughter to sleep for the last time without realizing it, underscoring how quickly early childhood moments pass.
Alongside her reflections on motherhood, Scott shared a broader message about women balancing family and career. She said she hopes Scottie will grow up understanding that women do not have to choose between building a career and building a family, if they choose either path at all. Her post emphasized gratitude for the chance to become a mother and the emotional significance of the early months with her daughter.
The post was accompanied by professional-style photos of Scott with her newborn. Scott described the past two months as a privilege and said that time with her daughter would never feel like enough, calling motherhood her “true heaven on earth.”
Alaina Marie Scott is the biological daughter of Dawn Scott, the sister of Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Scott. Eminem and Kim adopted her in the early 2000s when Dawn Scott was struggling with substance abuse. Dawn later died in 2016. Scott’s tribute highlighted both the personal milestone of motherhood and the family history that has long been part of her public identity.
