Billy Blanchard makes his Monte-Carlo red carpet debut as Julie Depardieu and Philippe Katerine’s son

Billy Blanchard, the son of French actors Julie Depardieu and Philippe Katerine, made his first red-carpet appearance on June 13 at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, attending the blue-carpet premiere of Les Derniers Jours de Charles Baudelaire alongside his father. The 15-year-old appeared confident and relaxed in front of photographers, wearing a light-blue suit with a 1970s-inspired cut and a long white scarf, while Philippe Katerine opted for a black-and-orange two-tone suit. Although Katerine has generally protected his children’s privacy, Billy has become increasingly visible at public events with his parents.

Billy also reunited on the blue carpet with filmmaker Arielle Dombasle, who is his godmother and was presenting the film. Dombasle attended the event with actor Boris Terral, who plays Charles Baudelaire in the production. After the screening, father and son continued the evening on the beach, where they were photographed enjoying the sunset in a more playful and relaxed setting.

The young teenager has already shown an interest in the arts. In 2023, he appeared in Les Secrets de la princesse de Cadignan, another film directed by Dombasle, suggesting an early connection to the creative world around his family. His name also reflects that relationship: in an interview with Paris Match following his birth, Julie Depardieu said that Dombasle had suggested the name Billy. Depardieu said the name felt natural, friendly, and not overly grand, adding that it also carried a personal reference for the family through a shared affection for Billy Idol, much like the name Guillaume, her late brother who died in 2008.

Billy’s appearance at Monte-Carlo highlights both his growing comfort in the public eye and the close artistic ties linking the Depardieu, Katerine, and Dombasle families. While still very young, he is already present in occasional cultural outings and film-related events, making him one of the latest members of the family to attract attention in French entertainment circles.
