FDA issues highest-risk recall for Alfredo sauce sold in 41 states

The Food and Drug Administration has classified a recall of more than 900 cases of Alfredo sauce as a Class I event, its most serious recall level, after a dry milk powder ingredient used in the product was recalled over possible salmonella contamination. The affected product was voluntarily recalled by The Coffee Connexion Co., Inc., based in Lebanon, Tennessee, on May 6, and the recall remains ongoing.
According to an FDA enforcement report, the recall covers 913 cases of Alfredo sauce packaged in 3-pound, 7-ounce sealed poly bags, with 12 bags per case. The product was sold under UPC 0039954921963. The affected batches include 046188 through 046193 with a best-by date of Jan. 12, 2028; 047290 through 047296 with a best-by date of Feb. 16, 2028; 048029 through 048034 with a best-by date of March 9, 2028; and 049089 through 049094 with a best-by date of April 20, 2028.
The FDA classified the recall as Class I on June 4, meaning there is a reasonable probability that using or being exposed to the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death. The product was distributed in 41 states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming, among others.
Salmonella can cause severe illness, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. In otherwise healthy people, infection can lead to fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The FDA said its enforcement report does not indicate whether any illnesses have been reported, and no press release was issued for the recall.
The recall stems from a supplier action involving a dry milk powder ingredient used in the Alfredo sauce. The Coffee Connexion Co. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The FDA recall number is H-0909-2026.
