Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor have stirred nostalgia by recreating the iconic hookstep of Le Gayi from Dil To Pagal Hai during a behind-the-scenes moment from the upcoming episode of India’s Best Dancer Season 5. A clip shared on Sony TV’s official Instagram page shows the two actors dancing to the popular track before sharing a warm hug, delighting fans who flooded social media with emotional reactions and memories of the 1997 film.
In the video, Madhuri appears in an elegant black floral saree, while Karisma wears a black outfit. Their performance quickly went viral among viewers who praised their chemistry and remembered the timeless appeal of the song. Social media comments called them an “iconic duo,” with many noting that the moment brought back the charm of one of Bollywood’s most loved dance sequences. Some fans also joked that Shah Rukh Khan should have joined them, while others suggested a sequel to Dil To Pagal Hai.
Karisma Kapoor is one of the judges on India’s Best Dancer Season 5, alongside Jaaved Jaaferi and choreographers Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur. Madhuri Dixit is set to appear on the show with her Maa Behen co-stars Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga. The current season premiered on June 6 and is hosted by Haarsh Limbachiyaa. The episode featuring the two stars is scheduled to air on Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 pm on Sony TV and SonyLIV.
Le Gayi remains one of the most memorable songs from Dil To Pagal Hai. The track, picturised on Karisma Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan, became widely known for its energetic choreography and Karisma’s standout performance. Sung by Asha Bhosle and Udit Narayan, the song was composed by Uttam Singh and written by Anand Bakshi. The film also featured Madhuri Dixit in a lead role and went on to become a commercial success, winning three National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress for Karisma Kapoor.
Both actors continue to remain active in films and streaming projects. Madhuri Dixit is currently earning praise for her role in Maa Behen, a black comedy thriller directed by Suresh Triveni. The film also stars Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga and Ravi Kishan, and follows a woman who calls her estranged daughters home after making a disturbing confession that she may have killed her neighbour. The film is streaming on Netflix.
Karisma Kapoor, meanwhile, is receiving appreciation for her performance in the psychological thriller series Brown, directed by Abhinay Deo and based on Abheek Barua’s 2016 novel City of Death. The series is available on ZEE5.
