Trump Appears to Doze in Oval Office as Cognitive Concerns Grow

Donald Trump recently used Truth Social to reassure supporters about his health after a medical evaluation at Walter Reed Medical Center. In a post last month, he said his six-month medical exam “went well,” adding that “everything checked out PERFECTLY” and thanking the doctors and staff involved in the visit.

Trump also highlighted what he described as a perfect result on a cognitive assessment. He said he scored 30 out of 30 on the test, which he characterized as a difficult measure of mental ability. In his post, Trump claimed that this was his fourth time taking the exam and that he had achieved perfect results each time, saying he had answered 120 out of 120 questions correctly across all four tests.

The former president framed the result as evidence of strong cognitive performance, contrasting his experience with that of other U.S. presidents. He said that none of them had taken an “approved, high-difficulty Cognitive Test” like the one he described. Trump referred to the alleged score as “extreme intelligence” and emphasized that perfect scores are rare, especially four times in a row.

In the same message, Trump argued that all candidates for president and vice president should be required to take high-difficulty cognitive tests. His comments appeared aimed at drawing attention to the issue of mental fitness in political leadership, a topic that has often been part of public debate surrounding older politicians and elected officials.

The post comes amid ongoing public attention to Trump’s age and health, as well as broader scrutiny of the physical and mental condition of major political figures. By sharing details of what he presented as a successful checkup and a perfect test score, Trump sought to present himself as fully fit for political office and capable of handling the demands of the presidency.

His message also reinforced a recurring theme in his public communication: portraying himself as unusually strong, capable, and superior to political rivals. The Truth Social post mixed medical claims, praise for his doctors, and political commentary into a single statement designed to reassure his base and counter concerns about his wellbeing.

While Trump did not provide medical records or independent documentation in the post, his remarks were presented as a direct update on his health status. The message was consistent with his longstanding habit of responding publicly to criticism with confident, highly affirmative statements. By stressing both the outcome of his exam and his claimed cognitive test results, he underscored his message that he remains fit for leadership.

The post is likely to fuel further discussion about the health standards expected of U.S. presidents and vice presidents, especially as voters and commentators continue to assess age, stamina, and cognitive sharpness as key campaign issues.
