Queen’s Tennis LIVE: Iva Jovic, Amanda Anisimova and Victoria Mboko in action as BBC coverage continues

At the WTA Queen’s Club Championships, several matches were decided across the women’s singles and doubles draws, with strong performances from seeded players and one retirement affecting the day’s results. On the Andy Murray Arena, sixth seed Iva Jovic of the United States defeated Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, to advance comfortably. Second seed Amanda Anisimova also moved through with a convincing win over Germany’s Laura Siegemund, 6-1, 6-3, showing control from the start and maintaining her status as one of the tournament’s leading contenders.

Another notable result on the main court came when Karolina Pliskova, representing the Czech Republic, advanced after Victoria Mboko of Canada retired while trailing 6-2, 3-4. Mboko, seeded third, had started the match slowly and was unable to continue, allowing Pliskova to progress. The day also listed Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic against Donna Vekic of Croatia, indicating more singles action in progress on Court 1.

In the doubles competition, the second-seeded pairing of Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada and Luisa Stefani of Brazil produced a solid performance to beat Miyu Kato of Japan and Liudmila Samsonova, 6-3, 6-2. The result underlined their effectiveness as a team, with both players maintaining pressure throughout the match and closing it out in straight sets.

Top seeds Anna Danilina of Kazakhstan and Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia also recorded a clear victory. They defeated Ulrikke Eikeri of Norway and Quinn Gleason of the United States, 6-2, 6-4, to continue their progress in the tournament. The match was competitive at times, but Danilina and Krunic proved more consistent in the key moments and held their advantage across both sets.

Elsewhere, Hanyu Guo of China and Kristina Mladenovic of France delivered one of the more one-sided doubles wins of the day, overcoming Australia’s Storm Hunter and China’s Shuai Zhang, 6-3, 6-1. Hunter and Zhang, seeded fourth, were unable to find enough rhythm against a pair that played with confidence and efficiency from the outset.

The results reflect a busy day at Queen’s Club, with seeded players largely holding firm in both singles and doubles. The competition continues on grass as players look to build momentum in the early stages of the tournament. All times are UK local time, and schedules remain subject to change.
