The Gás do Povo benefit will be paid on the 10th of every month, regardless of whether the date falls on a weekend or a public holiday, according to the rule established last month. In June, beneficiaries will receive the credit next Wednesday.
The program provides a free refill of a 13-kilogram gas cylinder for low-income families registered in the Cadastro Único, Brazil’s unified social registry for social programs.
By fixing the payment date to the 10th, the government aims to give families greater predictability and make it easier to plan household expenses. The measure also avoids delays that could happen when a scheduled payment date falls on a non-business day. Under this arrangement, the transfer is made on the same calendar day each month, ensuring continuity in access to cooking gas support.
The benefit is designed to help vulnerable households cope with the cost of essential cooking fuel. For many low-income families, the refill of a standard 13-kilogram gas cylinder represents an important relief in the monthly budget. The program is targeted at households already identified in the Cadastro Único, which is used to organize and deliver federal social assistance.
The monthly credit can be used to obtain the gas refill free of charge, reinforcing the program’s role as a direct support mechanism for basic needs. Because the payment is tied to a fixed day, beneficiaries can more easily anticipate when the aid will be available and coordinate purchases or deliveries accordingly.
In June, the deposit will occur on Wednesday, June 10, maintaining the calendar rule that applies throughout the year. The consistency of the schedule is intended to reduce uncertainty and improve access for families who depend on the benefit.
The Gás do Povo program is part of broader social support efforts focused on food security, energy access, and household stability. By covering the cost of a cooking gas refill, it helps reduce pressure on family incomes and supports everyday domestic needs.
Eligible families should be registered in the Cadastro Único and meet the program’s criteria to receive the benefit. The fixed-date payment structure now ensures that the support will be available on the 10th of each month without exception, including months when that day falls on weekends or holidays.
