Simone Biles Shares Hospital Photo, Says She ‘Almost Died’

Simone Biles has revealed that she recently experienced a serious health scare that sent her to the hospital, describing it as “one of, if not the scariest experience” of her life. In a series of Instagram Stories, the decorated Olympic gymnast said she usually keeps personal matters private, but felt compelled to share the update after the frightening incident earlier this week. She wrote that “almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card” and noted that her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, was away in Indianapolis for practices when the scare happened.
Biles appeared in one of the posts with hospital bands visible on her right hand and arm, prompting concern from fans and followers online. She later said she had been resting in bed for the week and thanked her close circle for checking on her, visiting her, and sending flowers. Additional posts showed flower arrangements she received and a cozy recovery scene with her dogs while she watched television, suggesting that she is now resting and being supported by loved ones as she recovers.
The update has also renewed attention on Biles’ future in gymnastics, especially speculation about whether she could return for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. As of now, she has not made a final decision. In an April interview with French sports daily L’Equipe, Biles said she is focused on enjoying her life, spending time with her husband, and supporting him at his games. She explained that after everything she has already accomplished in gymnastics, a return would only happen if it truly excited her.
Biles also acknowledged that the physical demands of elite competition are becoming harder to ignore. She said 2028 feels far away and admitted that her body is aging, adding that she could feel it during the Paris Games. The comments suggested that while she has not ruled out another Olympic run, she is in no rush to commit.
For now, the main concern is her recovery. Fans have responded with prayers and well-wishes, relieved to hear that she is safe and being cared for after such a frightening episode. Biles, widely regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts in history, has already built a legacy that transformed the sport. Whether this health scare will influence her competitive plans remains unclear, but supporters continue to hope for a speedy recovery and, perhaps, one more chapter in her remarkable career.
