Trump proposes ‘wild’ rally after artists drop out of concert series | Donald Trump

Donald Trump spent Saturday posting a barrage of messages on Truth Social, praising his administration’s plan to turn the National Mall’s reflecting pool blue, attacking a judge’s ruling that blocked efforts to rename the Kennedy Center after him, and promoting a proposed “America Is Back” rally as a replacement for a concert series that has lost most of its performers.

After arriving at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, at 11:08 a.m., Trump posted 25 times in two hours, including a series of AI-generated images. One showed him playing for the New York Knicks and dunking on New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Another depicted him riding a horse with George Washington and a Trump-branded race car on the White House lawn. A third showed the “Obama presidential library” as a giant garbage can.

In several lengthy posts, Trump criticized artists who withdrew from a summer concert series tied to the United States’ 250th anniversary and suggested he may replace them with a political rally. The concert series, announced the previous Wednesday, quickly lost seven of its nine featured acts within 48 hours. Trump said he wanted only “happy,” “smart,” and “successful” people around him and ordered his representatives to examine the feasibility of holding an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally” in Washington, DC, at the same time and place.

A spokesperson for Freedom 250 later clarified that the “Wednesday” Trump referenced is June 24, when he is scheduled to personally kick off the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration at a newly added opening ceremony for a 16-day fair on the National Mall. The fair had been set to begin June 25 with a concert by Martina McBride, but McBride said she would not perform after learning the event was not nonpartisan, as she had been told.

Trump also lashed out at US district judge Christopher Cooper, who ruled that the administration must remove Trump’s name from physical signage at the Kennedy Center and eliminate references to a “Trump Kennedy Center” from official materials. Cooper also temporarily blocked the center from closing this summer for a planned two-year renovation.

In his post, Trump called Cooper a “Barack Hussein Obama Judge” and accused him of interfering with what he described as a major rebuilding effort. He alleged that the judge had a conflict of interest because his wife is a former federal prosecutor who worked under Democratic administrations, served on the House committee investigating the January 6 attack, and now represents Joe Biden. Trump said Cooper “should be brought up on charges” for not disclosing those facts.

Trump continued posting after leaving the golf club later in the day, again attacking performers and promoting the idea of a large MAGA rally instead of a celebrity-heavy celebration. His message echoed the language of his “Will be wild!” post before the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol, underscoring the confrontational tone of his latest social media spree.
